At DI we:
DO NOT use an ear piercing gun for any piercings. A piercing gun can not be sterilized properly. It pushes blunt jewelry through the earlobe which causes tissue damage and possible scarring. This trauma can potentially leave you with a risk of infection and/or other healing complications.
DO NOT use any externally threaded jewelry.
DO use internally threaded, threadless/push fit, or rings made of implant grade ASTM F -136 Titanium, 18kt or 14kt Gold.
DO pierce with single-use hollow needles.
DO use a Tuttnauer Steam Autoclave to sterilize piercing tools and jewelry. Our autoclave is spore tested weekly. The test is processed by MesaLabs facility. In addition to weekly spore testing, we use a vapor line integrator in each sterilization cycle to indicate our autoclave’s pass/fail status.
